As Jack's questioning continued, Kris and Jo had finally gone home after spending what felt like forever at the pub. Jo had helped Lil finish and clear away...while Kris helped drink the supplies! It was getting late now, and the television was flickering and droning away in the corner, but neither of them paid much attention to it.
'I hope Jack's alright...' Jo thought out loud.
'Well, he's always managed to look after number one before, hasn't he?' Kris sneered. She had never been Jack's biggest fan...well, she had never been anybody's biggest fan really! A lot of it stemmed from jealousy at the closeness that Jo had developed over time with the pub landlord.
'Oh, Kris, just give it a rest for once, I'm not in the mood!' Jo was exhausted and getting snappy now, she didn't have the patience for her friend's tone.
'Oh, you just think the sun shines out of his backside don't you,' Kris could only think of retaliating, instead of trying to help Jo's stressed mood.
'That's it, I'm going outside for a fag....just bugger off to bed, Kris!'

Lil sat alone in The Headless Pint, after all the clearing away had been finished. She was nursing a glass of whisky and wiped away a tear.
'Oh, Jack...' She'd worked for him since he first arrived in Alborford but had also grown to look upon him as a surrogate son. The thought of life without him was suddenly more than she could bear...

Over at the Holland Road flat, Fiona was sorting out some clothes to go with Max to stay at her in-laws for a day or two. As fond as she was of Lisa and Nathan, it was more than she could manage to stay around when her cousin was being questioned over the rape of her friend. She was hoping to get the clothes and leave before anybody returned, but suddenly heard the front door slam shut.
'Max, is that you?' Fiona called out.
'No, it's us, Fi!' Nathan cried out and she felt a nervous shiver.
'Oh, er, hi...' As she carried on packing, Nathan and Lisa appeared at the doorway.
'What's going on? Where are you going?' Lisa asked, and Fiona took one look at her and knew that she had been crying.
'Max and I are just going to his parents, just for a few days....while...'
'While Jack's in custody?' Nathan asked, looking puzzled.
'Well, yes....'
'You don't have to do that,' said Lisa, 'it shouldn't come between us, Fi.'
Fiona tried to stay calm, but could feel herself getting stressed now.
'Well, I'm sorry, but it's for the best! He's my cousin and I'm not finding this very easy! We're going to have to leave for a while!'
