It was Christmas Day in Rex Road and Rachel was walking back home, being careful not to slip on the icy pavement, when she bumped into - literally - Ros.
'Woah! Mind how you go mate!' Ros laughed.
'Whoops, sorry, in a world of my own. Happy Christmas!' The friends hugged and kissed each other.
'You getting ready to cook?' Ros asked.
'Oh, Richard's starting it, I don't intend doing everything! With his mother visiting, I need to get as many drinks down me as I can!' Rachel replied, her breath misted in the cold air.
'Know what you mean, I'm going to have to endure lunch at the outlaws! Although Josie's a much better cook than I am, so going to enjoy the grub! Better get sorted I guess, might see you in The Headless Pint later, we're going for one just before lunch?'
'Maybe, will see how crazy I'm being driven by then!'

The Reynolds house was already in chaos, as Don realised that he'd forgotten to start defrosting the turkey for Josie the day before.
'What the heck have you been doing with your time, Don?!' Josie shrieked.
'Oh, give it a rest, woman, we'll just do what you always see on telly and shove it in the bath!'
Just at that moment, Max and Fiona walked in.
'Er...Merry Christmas Mum...Dad?'

As lunchtime approached for most people, The Headless Pint was buzzing with Yuletide drinkers.
'First one is on the house, mate, it is Christmas after all!' Jack cried across the bar to Max.
'I've always thought you were the best landlord out of all the pubs I drink in, Jack!'
'Isn't this about the only one you drink in?!'
'Yeah, exactly!' Max roared with laughter and Fiona giggled next to him.
At the opposite end of the bar, Kris and Jo were having a drink together, before heading off to their respective families for lunch.
'Look at that Max and Fiona...flash idiots!' Kris growled.
'I see you're full of Christmas spirit as ever!' Jo laughed.
'Whatever time of year it might be, that couple just get on my nerves!'
'Never mind, Kris, you'll soon be having so much fun with your folks, Max and Fiona will be a distant memory!' Jo laughed, as Kris rolled her eyes and scowled.
Jack decided he was going to push the boat out for Christmas Day and rang the bell behind the bar to get everyone's attention.
'Right everybody, as it's Christmas Day, I've decided that we should celebrate in style! Time to open the bubbly!'
Everybody cheered at this, even Kris broke into a smile at the thought of more free booze! Yet silence fell suddenly when the door opened and two police officers walked in and approached Jack at the bar.
'Mr Redfern?'
'Yes, er, that's me..' Jack glanced quickly from the officers across to his customers and their open-mouthed reaction.
'Could we have a word in private please, sir?'
