Now, I’ll stop waffling…back to Alborford we go….
WEDNESDAY JULY 20TH 2005
Nathan was desperately trying to find out who the police had arrested, and tried to call them again, without success.
‘They’re just fobbing me off!’ Nathan shouted in fury, slamming the phone down.
‘You’ve got to let them do their job, mate, they’ll let you know what’s going on when they can,’ Max tried to reassure him.
‘Yeah, I know…just getting so impatient now! They may have caught him, I want to see him put away!’
‘Of course you do, we all do, and it’ll happen soon enough. I know it’s hard, mate, but you’ve just got to wait..’
Max had been getting so worried about Nathan through all of this. He’d seen his happy go lucky, carefree friend become so stressed, suspicious and on edge.
The sooner that all of this was over the better…
Lisa had taken one of her first trips out of the flat, deciding to go for a walk through town. She walked down Mill Road, stopping at the library for a while, but the silence started to freak her out and she quickly left. Continuing past the car park, being wary of the dark entrance to it, she quickened her pace, checking behind her every few paces.
Feeling much safer once on the High Street, Lisa continued towards Wyatt-Williams Department Store, deciding to do some window shopping.
‘Hello stranger, how are you?’ Lisa gasped as the voice made her jump. It was Ros Robinson.
‘Oh, hello, how are you?’ Lisa asked timidly, suddenly quite nervous about talking to one of her old neighbours again.
‘Oh, I’m fine thanks, and how are you? It’s good to see you out and about again!’ Lisa realised that Ros was looking at her with pity in her eyes, and started to feel annoyed.
‘Yeah, well, didn’t think I should stay cooped up in the flat for much longer. Alborford can’t be that scary, eh? So thought I’d walk these scary streets!’
Ros noticed the tone in Lisa’s voice, and didn’t laugh.
‘OK, I’d better get going I guess, I need to pick up Holly soon….see you later!’
Ros was already halfway down the street as her words tailed off.
‘Bye!’ Lisa called after her, shaking her head in disbelief. She knew this would happen, people were starting to treat her differently now…
Later on, Lisa decided to stop at The Headless Pint for a drink on the way home.
‘Lisa, good to see you!’ Jack smiled as he walked into the bar area.
‘Hello Jack, give me a V and T please, I’ve had a tough afternoon, getting used to the natives again!’ Lisa sighed, propping herself onto a bar stool.
‘I can guess what you mean!’
Lisa looked around the pub and started to feel a little odd.
‘Are you alright?’ Jack asked nervously.
‘I’m not sure really….’ She couldn’t be certain, but Lisa was wondering about the night of the attack. Could it be that she was starting to remember?
