MONDAY JULY 18TH 2005
It was getting late and Josie and Fiona were in the kitchen of Number Two Rex Road, chatting away over cups of tea, while Don and Max watch television in the lounge.
‘She still can’t remember anything about that night, although the doctor says that things may come back to her at any time,’ Fiona sniffed slightly, and Josie felt worried for her. It was clear that she’d been crying earlier, and was very worried about her friend.
‘You really think a lot of her, don’t you?’ Josie asked.
Fiona nodded. ‘Yeah. We were like chalk and cheese when we first moved in together at Holland Road. But it’s amazing how someone you never thought that you’d get along with can become one of your best friends…’
Fiona words tailed off, and the Reynolds women sat in silence for a while. Josie was becoming more and more fond of her new daughter-in-law. This recent experience had shown a new side to her. She obviously ran a lot deeper than the dizzy airhead Josie initially thought she was.
‘Thanks for listening to me, Josie, I really appreciate it. With me not working at the moment, I’ve been feeling a bit lonely sometimes…’
Josie smiled and poured some more tea for them.
‘Think nothing of it, dear…’
Jo was busy tapping away on her laptop, lying on top of her bed, music playing in the background.
‘You still at it?’ Kris asked as she walked in with a drink for her.
‘Yeah, I’m starting to work on some job applications,’ Jo replied, not looking up from the screen.
Their finals were over, and as they waited for the results, Jo was thinking about her future…Kris was too busy concentrating on which end of year party to attend next!
‘Blimey! You’re keen, what are you applying for at the moment then?’
‘A graduate trainee scheme with one of the advertising agencies in Norwich, there’s so much to fill in it’s unbelievable!’ Jo took a sip from her glass of wine and finally looked up from the screen.
‘I’ve done enough typing and writing for a while, don’t think I’m going to be doing any of that just yet!’ Kris snorted.
‘So what are you going to do then, got to keep paying mum’s rent, eh?!’ Jo grinned sarcastically.
‘I’ll get a couple of bar jobs, I dunno, something like that, for a while anyway.
C’mon Jo, we just need to have a blast after the finals, don’t we?!’
Jo laughed loudly.
‘Kris, that’s all we have been doing for quite some time!’
Nathan arrived home and slumped onto the sofa, listening to Lisa sleeping in the next room for a while, relieved once more that she was safe and home.
He jumped when the phone rang.
‘Er, hello?’
‘Mr Cameron? Bethel Street police in Norwich here….’
Max and Fiona walked through the door, just as Nathan replace the receiver.
‘Are you alright, mate? You look a bit pale!’ Max asked.
‘That was the police. They’ve arrested somebody…’
