MONDAY JUNE 27TH2005
Nathan was having lunch in The Headless Pint with Jack, while Lil tended to the bar.
‘So they let you come back home yesterday?’ Jack asked.
‘Yeah, after giving me the grilling of the century! They made me feel like I’d done it, even though I know that I haven’t!’ Nathan was more angry than upset this last couple of days.
‘Well, they know where you were the whole time, so they’ve got their proof now!’ Jack was looking a bit uncomfortable, Nathan thought.
‘Lil! These people have been waiting for ages!’ Jack pointed out, losing his temper. Unusual for him, thought Nathan…
A few minutes later, Lil brought over some drinks for them, and put a hand on Nathan’s shoulder.
‘How you bearing up, my darlin’?’
‘Yeah, not too bad considering, Lil,’ he sighed.
‘I’m sure my steak and kidney will make you feel better!’ She smiled
‘I think it’ll take a bit more than that!’ Jack snorted.
‘Right. I’ll get back to it then!’ She stormed off.
Laura and Natalie were in Laura’s bedroom, listening to CDs.
‘So you haven’t seen him at all, then?’ Natalie asked.
‘Well, no, because the police have questioning him! That’s what I heard from Max the other day when I bumped into him. I’ve got to keep my distance for now, until all of this has blown over…’
‘I suppose so, otherwise the police might want to talk to you too!’ Natalie cried.
Laura shuddered.
‘I never thought of that! What if Nathan tells them about me and they want to talk to me too?! Oh no…’
Fiona and Max were back at Holland Road, having a takeaway for dinner.
‘This is a funny start to married life isn’t it?’ Fiona said grumpily, playing with her food for a while.
‘Yeah….Nathan’s been down the pub all day,’ Max added.
‘I don’t blame him, honey. If I’d gone through what he has the last few days, I’d be having a skinful every day of the week!’
‘True…maybe I should go down there and see if he’s alright?’
‘Oh, leave him be for now….he’ll be back…I just hope they catch up with the monster who attacked Lisa soon, or he might not be alright for long!’
