Now, I’ll stop waffling…back to Alborford we go….
FRIDAY JUNE 17TH 2005
Richard finished work early for the weekend, and took Rachel for a picnic in Alborford Park.
‘This was a great idea of yours, darling, especially with the way this weather’s turning out,’ Rachel pointed her face skyward, to catch some of the bright sunshine. The park was getting busy now, almost everyone in Alborford deciding to come out with the rays!
‘I thought it would be nice, and work owe me some time off,’ Richard almost took a sharp intake of breath, as he was trying not to talk about work at all in front of Rachel at the moment. She could tell, knowing him almost as well as he knew himself.
‘It’s alright, you know, I’m not going to wail like a banshee everytime you talk about your job. It may have caused arguments, but we’ve got to live! Anyway, I think that I was over reacting…’
‘I wouldn’t say that.’
‘Well, I was. Let’s just take things one day at a time, try and get back to how things were…’
Richard leaned over to kiss her.
‘That’s all I want, to get back to her we were. Speaking of which, I miss Harry, when is your mum going to bring him back?’
‘Should be tomorrow afternoon…so let’s make the most of this!’ Rachel laughed, sipping some wine.
‘That was mum on the phone,’ said Jo, putting the receiver back on its stand.
‘Oh yeah,’ Kris replied, flicking through a textbook.
‘She’s got a few possible housemates lined up for us, and the first one is coming round with her tomorrow.’
‘She is organised isn’t she? Do we get a say in all this then?!’ Kris was getting annoyed with Marsha’s actions, even though she owned the house now.
‘Of course we do, don’t be like that about it. She’s doing us a favour really, isn’t she?’ Jo didn’t always want to defend her mother, but felt that she wanted to on this occasion.
‘Yeah, I guess, at least we haven’t got to sift through the loonies first, your mum can weed them out before they get to the door!’ She laughed.
‘We going to the pub tonight then?’ Jo asked.
‘Yeah, we can discuss how we’re going to grill them all!’
Nathan jumped in Max’s car. He didn’t need to call the police, because they had called him moments ago. Lisa was in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, after being found in Hamborough. She’d been attacked, and was in a critical condition, they’d told him.
‘Come on!’ Nathan shouted, as the car took a moment to spring into life. For the first time in ages, he was in a panic, and all he could think was that things would be different if Lisa got through this. He would change.
