THURSDAY JUNE 16TH 2005
Nathan, for once, was getting worried about something. Normally unflappable, Lisa’s disappearance was really starting to concern him now… He was thinking about calling the police now…
Richard popped into The Headless Pint for a lunchtime drink.
‘There we go! He’s looking much happier now!’ Jack declared to several regulars propping up the bar when he noticed Richard coming through the door.
‘Hey mate, how’re things?’ Richard asked.
‘Good, but never mind me! You said in your text that Rachel was back?...And?’
‘So far, so good. We’ve got a lot to sort out, lots more talking to do,’ Richard said between sips of the pint that Jack had put in front of him.
‘Well, don’t do TOO much talking, sometimes you can just go round in circles and it won’t do any good…’
‘Yeah, you’re right. I think Rachel and I have been too serious before and forgotten how to have fun…we’re not some old married couple like Don and Josie just yet!’ Richard laughed.
‘Well, it’s great that she decided to come back mate, I’m really pleased for you,’
Jack smiled, pouring a pint for the next customer.
‘Only two more days of the working week to go, love,’ speaking of the old marrieds, Don had come home to Number Two for lunch that day.
‘Yeah, this week’s going quickly actually…and Max and Fiona come back on Saturday, don’t they?’
‘Yes!’ Josie slapped his arm ‘And you’ve obviously forgotten that we’re going to Stansted to pick them up! Three o’clock Saturday afternoon we have to be there!’
‘Oh yeah, sorry, been busy at work and all!’ Don looked sheepish, as he put on his coat to leave again.
‘What am I going to do with you?’
A grey haired woman, about sixty years old, was walking her dog along the country lanes that wove through Hamborough that afternoon. Suddenly, the dog pulled on the lead hard, towards a hedged area.
‘Where are you going, boy? Steady on!’ She cried, trying to hold the dog back, but he was determined to get to the hedge, there was something there he wanted to see.
As the dog forced it’s way through some undergrowth, the woman craned her neck to see what all the fuss was about.
‘What is all this then, a rabbit or…..something….’Her words tailed off into a gasp, as she saw the half naked body of a young woman lying underneath the hedgerow.
It was Lisa.
