Now, I’ll stop waffling…back to Alborford we go….
MONDAY JUNE 13TH 2005
Nathan had spent some time on a mate’s sofa, but decided to confront Lisa. She had been so furious, that he’d fled the flat quite soon afterwards…not that he wanted to, but he was actually quite frightened of her by the end of their row.
Realising that she’d already changed the locks, Nathan gingerly rang the flat’s buzzer system.
‘Yep,’ Lisa’s voice rang out loudly.
‘It’s me, Lise, can we talk please?’ There was a long pause, before a loud buzzing sound accompanied the front door moving open.
Val and Josie were having a coffee in the café of Wyatt-Williams department store.
‘Looks like it’s going to rain soon…’ Josie was in a world of her own today.
‘Yeah….’ And Val wasn’t far behind her.
‘I wonder how Max and Fiona are getting on…they do right not to be in grey old Norfolk today, don’t they?’
Val smiled ‘They do…come on, let’s stop vegetating here and get some more shopping done, that’ll get us more lively again!’
Josie laughed, Val always knew the right thing to suggest…and it usually involved shopping.
Laura and Natalie left Alborford College and began the walk home.
‘I hope I win some tickets to Live 8,’ Natalie was saying excitedly.
‘Hmmm, let’s hope so,’ Laura could see Kris Slater walking ahead of them.
‘Oh, her! I thought something had caught your attention! Just ignore her!’
‘No, it’s fine…I was just wondering…I bet she thought that she could handle Nathan, and she couldn’t. What makes me think that I can?’
Natalie was worried, not for the first time, about what Laura had got herself into.
‘Only you know the answers, Laura. I can’t tell you the right thing to do…’
But she knew that Laura wouldn’t have listened anyway. When it comes to Nathan Cameron, she’s a law unto herself!
Back at Holland Road, Lisa was trying to give Nathan the silent treatment…but it wasn’t going to last very long!
‘You knew what I was like when you started seeing me Lisa, surely?! I’m sorry that you’ve been so upset, but that’s just the way I am I suppose?!...’
Lisa threw a cushion across the room at him and shouted –
‘You what?! So this is all something that you can’t help!! I should just accept it?! Absolute crap, Nathan! A leopard CAN change it’s spots, you know!! What a load of rubbish!’
Nathan grinned ‘So what happens next then?’
Lisa screamed ‘It’s over! So get out again!!’
Suddenly, Nathan’s brain kicked into emergency mode, as he wondered how to keep a roof over his head. Which, at the moment, was more important to him than Lisa was.
‘Well….’
‘Well nothing, if you haven’t got anything important to say, just go!’ Lisa was distraught now, the tears streaming down her face.
‘What if….what if I were to ask you to marry me?’
