REX ROAD DOUBLE WEDDING EPISODE – PART ONE
It was Friday night, and Max had decided to hold his Stag Night with great tradition, on the actual eve of the wedding, instead of a week or two before, as was the norm these days.
They’d started off in one of the Riverside bars in Norwich.
‘I thought you might have stayed in town for tonight,’ grumbled Richard. He was still miserable because he hadn’t managed to sort things out with Rachel yet.
‘Don’t be ridiculous, I don’t want to spend my stag do in the same pub I’ve gone in practically every night lately! We want this to be a night to remember!’
And it certainly would be a night to remember, because Fiona and Lisa were watching from the balcony upstairs, hatching plans. Fiona had already had her hen night and was concentrating on helping her friend now.
‘Is Nathan with them yet, I can hardly bear to look?!’ Lisa asked.
‘Hmm, not sure yet, he’s bound to be soon, because the totty rate in here is sky high tonight!’ Fiona looked around at what she considered to be all the stunning young girls in the place, with a few slappers here and there….when she noticed the look on Lisa’s face.
‘I’m sorry, darlin’! But you know what I mean…’
‘Yeah,’ sighed Lisa as she sipped from her bottle, ‘unfortunately I do!’
‘Well, we’ve just got to lie in wait for a while and see what happens!’ Fiona was getting quite excited at their spy games now.
Downstairs in the bar, things were starting to get a bit louder and more boisterous now, as the time ticked by and the pints were sank.
‘Nathan! About time you got here, you’ve got some catching up to do!’ Max cried.
‘Sorry mate, got, er, a bit delayed, y’know,’ Nathan grinned his usual cheesy grin.
‘Yeah, we know what kind of thing delays you! How fit was she?!’ Jack laughed, starting to slur his words by now.
‘You know me too well, Mr Redfern!’ Nathan replied and they all cracked up.
‘Who’s for tequila slammers, I’m going to get a round in!’ Richard was now on a mission to get so drunk that he wouldn’t even think about Rachel tonight. Easier said than done though…
‘Slow down a little bit mate, it’s early yet!’ Max shouted. ‘Oh, what the hell, get ‘em in!’ He laughed.
‘So then,’ Sam sidled up to Nathan with his pint, only taking it slowly at the moment. With all his night time nappy changes and bedroom pacing, he didn’t feel equipped to drink much at the moment, ‘were you really with a woman before you got here?’
Nathan grinned again.
‘C’mon mate, you can tell me! You always lead an eventful love life, so it’d be interesting to hear about it…y’know, for a settled old man like me!’
They both laughed ‘OK, daddy! Yeah, well, I’ve been seeing someone else on the side for a while…’
‘I don’t think I even need to ask you who it is…you never could keep away from her could you…even when you had Kris to contend with!’ Sam’s eyes were like saucers, he couldn’t believe that Nathan took so many risks in life.
‘You’re right mate…she is a bit hard to resist, but it’s getting more difficult to keep both of them happy…’
‘You need to be careful, it’s too close for comfort isn’t it?! Bound to come out..’ Sam actually felt a bit worried for him too.
Back upstairs, Fiona and Lisa were still keeping an eye on the boys, but having a bit of a heart-to-heart of their own.
‘It’s everything I ever wanted, to be married to the man I love, one day have children, maybe move to a nice place in the country,’ Fiona cooed and Lisa almost rolled her eyes.
‘You make it sound like paradise, Fi,’ Lisa smiled.
‘Well, it is my paradise! No reason why it can’t be for you too, Lise. Just get rid of that loser Nathan and I’m sure things will change for the better!’
‘The thing is though, I think he’s the man of MY dreams. What if he’s my knight in shining armour then?! What happens next?’ Lisa stared at Fiona, waiting for an answer.
‘Depends….if you can live with what he does, then fine…if not, then maybe you’ve got to move on and hope there’s another knight out there, with a space on his horse,’ Fiona smiled, trying to reassure her.
‘We’ll have to see, but I want to make him aware soon that he can’t mess me around as easily as he thinks he can! I’ll see what his attitude is, and then we’ll know how much he cares…’
Lisa realised that they hadn’t spoken that much about Fiona’s big day.
‘I’m sorry, it’s your wedding tomorrow and all we’re doing is concentrating on this! Are you feeling nervous?’
‘Not really….don’t worry, tonight is to look out for you, you’re a good friend…I’ve got the rest of my life with Max after tomorrow!’
Just as the girls were chatting about wedding dresses, Nathan was talking to a particularly stunning blonde girl at the bar.
‘So, what do you fancy?’
She looked him up and down, as if to give her answer.
‘I actually meant a drink, but I prefer that answer!’ Nathan moved in to kiss her, as Lisa looked over the balcony and positioned a camera to get a snap of his cheating moment, just as she knew he would.
‘Gotcha, papped by your own missus, mate!’
‘Sorry, Lise, it’s not nice for you to see…’
As Fiona spoke, Lisa moved the camera slightly…and saw Max, with his tongue down the throat of some mystery girl.
‘And neither’s that, Fiona! Look!’
