Ray had a very simple and straightforward upbringing, with his parents and sister in Norwich. He could see no reason for that basic lifestyle to change…until Val Cassidy swept into his life. Meeting her in a Norwich pub, a holiday in America followed, that ended in marriage and a home in New York! This idyllic life in the city that never sleeps continued until Laura’s birth was a trigger for both of them becoming a bit homesick. The Lucas tribe have lived in Rex Road for over fifteen years now and, like the Reynolds, they’ve been happy. A doting father, Ray’s concern can manifest itself by bullying his children into things, and a recurring drink problem. He still worships Val and often sees his sister and her family.
