Josie had never been happy in Leeds, surrounded by a well to do family that she was never at ease with. She was overjoyed when, at 16 years old, her family left for Nottingham. After marrying Don, Rex Road was a bit of a come down for Josie, but she soon adjusted after having their children. Ironically, she began to slip back into some of the family's snooty ways, becoming a leisurely housewife, employing a cleaner while she shopped and socialised. With an intense hatred of her sister, Sylvia, most of her family ties have been severed (unlike the close Reynolds family); and, it has to be said, Josie can be very difficult to get along with! Constantly concerned for her sons, Don often accuses her of taking their side against him - which she often does! The troubled Parker family was pretty much written off, when her parents were killed in a car crash in 1975.
