Born into a working class household, Don has always believed in working hard for a living. He built his way up to his post and met Josie Parker at the supermarken Christmas disco, bumping into her son again six months later. Two years after that, Don moved to Norwich as part of staff restructuring. Saving some of his cash, he took a holiday in Rome, only to meet Josie there! They married in 1971. Moving to Rex Road, Alborford, in 1978, a pregnant Josie reluctantly gave up work after health problems. Almost dying in childbirth with Sam (the doctors said she was lucky to get pregnant for a second time), Don has overcome problems with his wayward sons and they are generally a happy family. Don is considered moody by some Rex Road residents, but they do seem to care about him. Devastated by his father's death in 1989, he often sees other family members
